In this message, David J. Jones speaks of the contrast between Herod and the wise men, between religion and real wisdom from God.

“We must be wise people. We must know that we follow and seek Him cleanly. We must be willing to go the full length fo the journey…and in that place is the beginning of true worship.”

Mary’s Praise

This message speaks about rejoicing from the spirit and finding a way to express the deep joy that can only be inspired by God Himself.

46 And Mary said:

My soul proclaims the greatness of[o] the Lord,
47 and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,
48 because He has looked with favor
on the humble condition of His slave.
Surely, from now on all generations
will call me blessed,
49 because the Mighty One
has done great things for me,
and His name is holy.
50 His mercy is from generation to generation
on those who fear Him.
51 He has done a mighty deed with His arm;
He has scattered the proud
because of the thoughts of their hearts;
52 He has toppled the mighty from their thrones
and exalted the lowly.
53 He has satisfied the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped His servant Israel,
mindful of His mercy,[p]
55 just as He spoke to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his descendants[q] forever.

Celebrate and Rejoice

For the start of the Christmas season this message talks about completion and calls us to find a place to celebrate and rejoice while we are waiting.

Galatians 4:4-5

When the time came to completion, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Fruit of the Spirt: Part 9

Self Control

Having self-control means that we act in the way and do the things we were designed to do.

John 3:8

The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Fruit of the Spirit: Part 8

1Kings 19:10-12

10 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of Hosts, but the Israelites have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are looking for me to take my life.”

11 Then He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the Lord’s presence.”

At that moment, the Lord passed by. A great and mighty wind was tearing at the mountains and was shattering cliffs before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a voice, a soft whisper.

Fruit of the Spirit: Part 7

Fruits are things that grow and are the work of the Spirit within us. They are the manifestation of the character and nature of God within us.

Our starting point must be to think on the faithfulness of God.

Fruit of the Spirit: Part 6

No one is good apart from God and yet there is an expectation that we should exhibit goodness in our lives.

Fruit of the Spirit: Part 5

The Fruits of the Spirit reflect God’s character through His people. Kindness comes from the eternal goodness of who God is.

Fruit of the Spirit: Part 4

We can be patient with different tasks or with other people but patience is not there for its own sake. It has an aim and an end. We need to first understand what the patience of God looks like.

Fruit of the Spirt: Part 2

People who are joyful are grateful, they have expectations and they delight when they see others doing well. But this is not about your personality type—it is a fruit of the spirit.
