What is "dispensationalism"?

Glossary of Terms

Every community develops their own way of speaking over time. They understand certain words to have a particular meaning and they might use those words differently than another group.

We have compiled a 5-page glossary for you that you are welcome to download and reference anytime you need clarification during your studies.

Please feel free to listen to some of our past sermons. Each of these series, as well as the single session teachings, cover very important pieces of foundational knowledge.

Single Teachings

The Incarnation (John 1:14)

The Word became flesh and took up residence among us.  We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Day The Sun Stood Still (Joshua 10:1-15)

10 Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai and completely destroyed it, treating Ai and its king as he had Jericho and its king…

Grace Busters (Part 1-5)

The Grace Busters series deals with identifying obstacles and those things that prevent us from receiving God’s grace.

GBs (Part 1): Legalism

This is the first message in a series addressing the Grace Gap: both the lack of understanding of God’s Grace as well as those things that keep us from taking hold of that which he would give us.

Legalism seeks to close the Grace Gap by adding to or turning to rules and rituals rather than fully depending on the Grace of God alone. Legalism of the heart versus legalism of the mind is also addressed in this teaching.

GBs (Part 2): Fear, Unbelief and Religion

Fear, unbelief and religion keep us bound, restricting and holding us back from accepting the freedom that God has for us. These are things that need to be addressed so we can move ahead and grow in our Christian life.

GBs (Part 3): False Tolerance

This is one of the most dangerous and pervasive things in the church. Where there is false tolerance, the Grace of God is not at work.

GBs (Part 4): Altered Perspective

There is an thought in today’s society that different ideas all have the same value. If you apply that idea to a belief system or dispute or anything else, it does not work because it avoids the issue of making right judgement.

We must make sure that our understanding and/or opinions are based upon truth rather than our own brokenness so that we do not project that brokenness into the situation, thereby forming wrong conclusions.

GBs (Part 5): The Bath Tub

Today David J. Jones talks about that container in which we hold our beliefs; that which defines our belief system.

Grace Busters (Part 6-10)

GBs (Part 6): Disconnection

This next message specifically addresses the fact that, although someone might be in Christ, somehow they are not living from that place.

GBs (Part 7): Search for Significance

This message unpacks one of the greatest fundamental issues within the human condition: desiring what a person is not entitled to because they struggle with understanding their identity.

GBs (Part 8): Self-Determination

Self-determination is at the root of all sin and no one is exempt from this. This message discusses the importance of making choices from a place of connection to God rather than our fallen nature.

GBs (Part 9): Distinctives

Division amongst believers is one of the major reasons that the world has no respect for the church. The principle reason that there is so much division in the church is because many groups of Christians try to elevate themselves over others by setting themselves apart using beliefs or areas of speciality. But there is a way to have unity in the Church and an uncompromised gospel.

GBs (Part 10): Using Jesus

One of the most pervasive issues in the church is that people use their legalistic understandings of the gospel in order to justify the way they live or to get what they want from their religious experience. This message exposes the idea of living a life driven by a desire to “use” Jesus.
